하우스 엠 | 도시 속 사적인 안식처

제주시 도남동 시민복지타운 내 단독주택 부지에 자리한 하우스 엠은 비교적 낮은 건축 밀도의 한적한 주택가에 위치합니다. 근린공원, 시민복지타운 광장, 공영주차장 등 편의시설이 인접해 있어 쾌적한 주거 환경을 제공합니다.

대지 중심을 기준으로 가로세로 3.6m 간격의 3×3 그리드를 설정하고, 그 중심을 비우며 건축이 진행되었습니다. ㄷ자형으로 둘러싸인 1층과 ㅣ자형의 2층이 결합되며 입체적 시퀀스를 형성하고, 중정을 중심으로 한 배치가 이루어졌습니다.비워진 중정은 단순한 공간이 아니라, 하우스 엠의 심장이 됩니다. 이를 중심으로 각 실들은 채광과 환기를 고려해 배치되었으며, 내부와 외부가 자연스럽게 연결됩니다.

과거의 주거가 비와 바람을 피하는 피난처였다면, 현대 도시 속 주거는 외부로부터 프라이버시를 보호하는 역할을 합니다. 하우스 엠은 사적인 안식처로서의 기능을 확보하는 동시에, 자연과의 소통을 중요하게 고려하였습니다.

각 실은 저마다 다른 외부 공간과 맞닿아 있으며, 빛과 바람이 주는 다양한 경험을 선사합니다. 그 안에서 가족들의 기억이 쌓이고, 시간이 흐를수록 더욱 깊어지는 추억의 공간이 되기를 바랍니다.

House M | A Private Sanctuary in the City

Located within the residential district of the Citizen Welfare Town in Donam-dong, Jeju City, House M sits in a tranquil neighborhood with relatively low building density. Surrounded by a neighborhood park, a central plaza, and a public parking lot, it offers a pleasant and convenient living environment.

The design follows a 3×3 grid system with 3.6m spacing, leaving the central space open to create a dynamic architectural composition. The first floor, arranged in a U-shape, is combined with a linear second floor, forming a three-dimensional spatial sequence. This layout results in a courtyard-centered design, where the void becomes the heart of House M. Around this space, each room is positioned to maximize natural light and ventilation while seamlessly connecting the interior with the exterior.

While traditional dwellings served as shelters from the elements, modern urban homes play an essential role in ensuring privacy. House M is designed as both a private sanctuary and a space that fosters interaction with nature.

Each room is carefully positioned to face a distinct outdoor space, allowing for diverse experiences shaped by light and wind. Over time, House M is meant to evolve into a home where cherished memories accumulate, creating a timeless space for its residents.
