The name Adam carries dual meanings—rooted in the Korean word for "modestly small" while also referencing the first human in biblical history. Adam Stay explores the most fundamental elements of a home—floor, walls, roof, and chimney—creating a space that embodies comfort and serenity.

To embrace an extreme simplicity, two buildings are arranged in an "L" shape, enclosed by traditional Jeju stone walls. At the center, a single tangerine tree stands—symbolizing the essence of Adam Stay, much like the apple tree in the Garden of Eden. The gabled roof is reinterpreted in a contemporary minimalistic design, while the chimney has been repurposed to house an air conditioning unit, blending traditional architecture with modern functionality

The interior is designed around a central courtyard, allowing seamless circulation throughout. A deliberately elongated spatial sequence enhances the architectural experience, with overlapping spaces—bathroom, courtyard, living room, and outdoor area—visually expanding the perception of space within a compact setting. Upon reaching the living room, visitors are met with breathtaking views of Jeju’s lush landscape through large windows, while the courtyard’s lone tangerine tree

Ascending to the second-floor loft reveals a cozy bedroom. The gable-shaped volume is fully integrated into the space, evoking a fairytale-like atmosphere. From within, guests can take in both exterior and interior views, reinforcing a sense of openness and connection. Adam Stay uses the most essential architectural elements to create a space that offers a rich and immersive experience.
